Madonna in Russia! NCA

12 September 2006 the companies The Next Adventure, Live Nation CEE and NCA put together the greatest stage show in the history of Russian show business as part of Madonna’s world Confessions Tour at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.

Moscow for years had tried to negotiate a concert, but each time the concert organization was impeded – problems with the tour schedule, terrorist acts, lack of agreement concerning fees and so on. Yet at long last all of the problems were addressed, and Madonna performed in Russia for the first time!

Madonna’s Moscow Confessions

The multiple Grammy award winner and the most successful female recording artist of all time Madonna continues to make contemporary music history. Nine of the super-star’s albums have been on the UK Album Charts. Her latest album Confessions on a Dance Floor has been breaking popularity records everywhere. The album has already been purchased by 200 million people world wide and has debuted at No.1 in 29 countries.

Madonna’s stunning stage show simply has no equal. ‘A spectacle of epic proportions. The best Madonna tour since Blonde Ambition’ wrote the UK's Attitude Magazine after one of its journalists had the joy of attending one of her US concerts. ‘Still at her controversial best. Yes, Madonna IS the queen of pop’ echoed London's The Sun newspaper.

The Moscow performance was sponsored by the clothing company H&M and telecommunications company Beeline (VimpelCom), with Europe Plus acting as the concert’s primary mass-media partner. The Madonna Confession Tour was produced and promoted by The Next Adventure (A Live Nation Company) in association with Live Nation (LNCEE) and NCA.

The Confessions Tour was directed by Jamie King, and featured long time Madonna collaborator and co-producer Stuart Price as Musical Director. The show's costumes were created by fashion icons Jean Paul Gaultier and Arianne Phillips. The unique stage included three runways that stretched out into the audience, a rotating stage and giant state of the art video screens.

"Turning The World Into a Giant Dance Floor!"

Madonna’s world Confessions tour opened on 21 May 2006 in Los Angeles. In all, the singer performed 57 concerts in 24 of the world’s largest cities. Preparatory stage construction and equipment installation work for the Moscow performance began 2 weeks before the 12 September concert. Madonna’s Russian appearance was number 55 on the tour. At the press centre of the Moscow stadium Luzhniki an office for concert organizers was erected in which an international team of the best professionals in the production, logistical, promotion and PR industries worked non-stop in preparation for the concert. Approximate figures indicate that more that 2000 people were involved in the organization of the concert.

The intellectual property rights to the Confessions Tour are held by Live Nation, a spin-off promotion company of the international giant Clear Channel Communications. In 2005 Live Nation promoted 28,500 concerts world wide and today owns the rights to ticket sales at 150 of the world’s largest concert venues. The company is headquartered in Los Angeles, California, USA and Live Nation stock is listed on the New York Stock Exchange with the stock symbol LYV.
